Go For Health! Collaborative

Initiated in 2004, Go for Health! (GFH) is a collaborative that brings together over 30 agencies to reduce obesity in Santa Cruz County. Our community agencies address obesity prevention through innovative food security strategies, health and wellness education, parent engagement, safe and active transportation, youth leadership, farm and garden education and more.

Our Vision: A thriving and equitable community that supports a healthy lifestyle.
Our Mission: Go For Health! supports education, policies, systems and environmental changes to reduce obesity by promoting healthy eating and active living for all.

To improve health and reduce obesity in Santa Cruz County, the collaborative selected the following actions for 2020:

Food Access: Increase participation in food assistance programs by reducing stigma and raising awareness.
Community Health Education: Align nutrition education and physical activity messages among partner agencies throughout the county.
Health Policy Advocacy: Support State and local health policy and obtain significant and sustained funding for health programming.
Communication and Coordination: Continue to collect and maintain online maps of services to identify community assets and gaps and maximize the collective efforts of GFH member agencies.
